Research and Planning - Production Company Logos + Word It Out
I am researching different film company logos. Some are well known and instantly recognisable, such as that of Warner Bros, Disney and Dreamworks - whereas some are less well known such as independent company, Vertigo. I might use these logos to incorporate some ideas into my own.

Research and Planning - Treatment
The name of our production is 'Warning'.
Writer of the script will be shared credit to myself and Lucy.
Trailer will contain three main characters, Dannii, Lucy and Jordan. They will all be drug dealers, however Lucy and Dannii will be on the same side and Jordan will be the threat against them.
First shot will be an establishing shot of scenery in Haughton Green. Set during early 2014, two main characters (Lucy and Dannii) are sat in a flat - Haughton Green high rise flats - discussing the threat of a new drug dealer in the town. Fading the screen to black and emotive music will be used to go move to the next scene. The characters will all wear similar costumes of 'chavvy' attire such as hoodies, trainers, trackies or leggings, and will have simple make up.
Angered at the thought of another drug dealer in town, the two main characters devise a plot to find out who he is and get rid of him. The new drug dealer will be shown briefly in his bedroom and then on the street walking. There will be shots of him walking round the estate talking to different people and a shot of the camera following him as he is running (cameraman will have to run behind him holding the camera).
Individual scenes will be shown of the two girl main characters going about their daily lives, most likely in their bedrooms and preparing drugs.
Text will be put in between shots saying production and directer credits and then the last shot will be that of all the main characters in the same scene and the tension between them all will be shown.
Trailer will end on a cliffhanger with a rhetorical question - leaving it open to the viewers imagination.

Research and Planning - London Trip
We visited London for three days during October on a college trip. During the trip, we saw sights such as Big Ben, The British Film Museum, London Dungeons, BBFC, Leister Square, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgur Square, Suburbs of Chelsea and many more things. My favourite part of the trip was The British Film Museum as I thought it was interesting to see all the movie props in 'real life', such as the dinosaur skeleton used in Night at the Museum, the infected monkeys used in 28 Days Later and costumes used in the superhero films. Overall, I thought that the trip was interesting on the whole and I thought the BBFC trip was insightful, as seeing how they certify films will come in handy when I am talking about game certification in the exam.

Research and Planning - Group Meeting
The group meeting today consisted of us discussing ideas for the storyboard. We have decided to try and get it done for the end of the week, and we are going with a drug theme. We have decided we shall use locations in and around Haughton Green, Denton and Hyde, as they are urban.

Research and Planning - Practical + Impractical Trailers
Due to the resources we have, Lucy and myself would not be able to recreate trailers such as that of James Bond or Harry Potter. Due to health and safety reasons, we would be unable to do stunts such as jumping off a bridge or a massive fight scene. Similarly, our software is more limited when it comes to special effects. This is another reason social realism would be a suitable genre to follow, as social realism films tend to be more realistic.
A more practical trailer we could try and recreate is that of This is England. It is set in a council estate, and we both live near one at least. This enables us to use a location that is often used in this genre of film. Another practical trailer we could have used if we had followed the horror genre is Paranormal Activity. It uses simple shot types, plain fonts and is, in general, fairly simplistic.
An impractical trailer for us to try and recreate would be that of Attack the Block. This is due to the extensive special effects it uses such as explosions in the opening scene, the prosthetics it uses, dangerous props such as fireworks and other various things at the producer's disposal that we would not have access to.

Research and Planning - Questionnaire

Research and Planning - IMDB Research
I have been looking on the IMDb (Internet Movie Database) website to find out some facts about films, Above is a screen shot of this weeks most popular film this week - Prisoners - grossing roughly 5.06 million in just three weeks.
These are the highest grossing films of all time, with iconic films such as The Shawshank Redemption, The Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings, films in which you would struggle to find someone who hasn't watched at least one of these films.
Above is a list of the most popular horrors of 2013. It features films such as the sequel to the highly successful ghost story Insidious and new film The Purge.
Social realism genre research:
Above I have done a screen grab of the most IMDB's top ten most popular social realism films.
I will research further into each of these films and incorporate themes from these into my own trailer.
