Research and Planning - Social Realism Editing Research
After our first filming attempt, we have carried out some extra research as to what types of editing could be used. We have taken inspiration from iconic social realism director Shane Meadows and taken the above clip off YouTube. It contains editing methods such as over the shoulder shots tracking the characters walking.
Mr Meadows uses a method in which many different cuts are used in the same scene, to show different perspective. We will take this influence and incorporate it into our trailer. For example, for our establishing shot we shall take many shots of the high rise flats and show the location of them. Shane Meadows uses emotive music which could be re-created on GarageBand, many close-up shots of characters faces and shots in which break up the trailer.

Research and Planning - Attracting An Audience
If our film were to be a real and intended for public viewing, it would be an independent company production and therefore would have to work harder to create synergy.
Firstly, the magazine would be aimed at teenagers and adults and would ideally be sold in big supermarkets such as Asda, Morrisons or Sainsburys. However, due to independent companies having such tight budgets, it would most likely be sold in smaller newsagents and other stores such as this.
Our trailer could be uploaded to Youtube for no cost other than the time of having to sign up to create a Youtube account, and could be viewed freely by the public this way. I would also expect it to be shown at the opening credits/advertisements in independent cinemas showing films of a similar theme.
The poster I would like to be put up at or around bus stops, as this is often used as a method of transport for young people whom tend not to drive. I would ideally like it to be put up on the outside of a cinema such as Cineworld, however due to the small nature of the film and the unknown actors and places, it is unlikely.
Other independent films such as Monsters (2010) have created a buzz around their film due to free apps for Apple products being created based on them. This would be a good method to use for the trailer as it could be downloaded for free onto their phone or something like ringtones could be downloaded and used.

Research and Planning - Bad Character Description (1)
The second main bad character will have to be very similar to the first. I would expect both of them to be chavs and have similar attitudes. They will also have to e comfortable with the storyline of drugs and have a bad, cocky attitude towards the main good character. They will have to be persuasive to join in with the leading astray of the good character. It is unlikely they will be on the magazine and poster also, however they may be.
Research and Planning - Character Description (Bad Character 1)
For the first negative character we need someone who can act as a leader through being bossy and taking charge. They need to be able to act persuasive and be able to pressure the main character. They need to be comfortable with the storyline of drugs as they will be pretending to be taking them. They need to have an attitude and act bad and break laws in the trailer. They will also need to be comfortable in front of the camera as they will most likely also be on the trailer as well as the poster and magazine.
Research and Planning - Main Character Description
For the main character we will be looking for someone who is confident acting in front of the camera as they will be on the trailer throughout and also the poster and magazine. The character they will be having to play will need to be vulnerable, innocent and easily influenced. We need them to dress them in normal clothing in which will set them apart from the bad characters.
